Ashley's Egg Page

charmed i'm sure!

A Present

A present for me received a few days back.
*

Yep, my mail lady dropped this off to my surprise. A little packet of vintage wallpaper form Mizz One Crabapple over at Art Tea Life.

Check her out, she does the neatest thing with the littlest piece of paper. You don't have to have great big pieces to make beautiful art.
*

I held onto my little packet until I could scan it because you know I just have to show all. And now I will be gluing some down for sure.
*

Here's the good news. I don't know if she still has any, but she did have in her Etsy. So check it out if you like vintage wallpaper...and we all do.
*

Thank you Mizz One Crabapple Art Tea Life, I love it.

More later,
really,
Sharon

Killing Two Birds with one.....

stone. NO! NO! NO!

I'm not talking about killing my birds or chicken or guineas.

I'm talking about:

BIRD NUMBER ONE: My Deck of Me mini art journal. Well I can't really call it a journal yet seeing as how I have only made this one card. I believe it was for week 18 and the prompt was "nature". You know I love my chickens and guineas. They give us scrumptious little presents that we enjoy for breakfast. But they all also leave presents that are little puffs of themselves. I find them just floating around in the yard. I claim them as God's art and I use them in mine.

BIRD NUMBER TWO: I was over at MichelleWard's and reading about her Green Pepper Press Street Team Crusade No 8 is Cheap Tricks. Yes I'm cheap and so that definitely grabbed me. I checked it out and found that everyone was invited to share their "clever inexpensive favorite thing to use when making art."
That was easy, my little puffs of fowl are free. And I also realized that I have been using the various bird nest photos that I took several weeks ago in my art. As a matter of fact, it may be my most favorite thing to use at the moment. Check out the above link to get some really cool Cheap Tricks to use in your art.
Also, if you post about your Cheap Trick and then go back and leave a comment and link, well you get a chance at a really cool prize.
So there you have it one post. Two birds.

aspire to be

Another bit of art from my long weekend. This is in myA Long Time Ago art journal. I wanted to try the colors "blue and ochre" and also wanted to use more of the pictures that I took of Melissa for my Misty Mawn via Somerset Studio workshop. Again, I enjoyed the technique demonstrated by Misty.
Now I'm ready to do a "blue and ochre" page for my True Colors Journal. I will probably use pictures of Ashley though because now she is demanding an "egg" page.
It's way too late for me to be up. I can't even think straight; however, I just had to watch Elton's big bash. It was wonderful.
I'm going to bed now.

My Misty Mawn Workshop

Yesterday I took a Misty Mawn Workshop. Yes I did, right here in my own studio.

Did you know, she will come to your studio and teach? It's like an Art House Call. I found her to be just the sweetest most caring and sharing person.

She will come to your studio too.

Just do what I did.
I purchased the latest issue of Somerset Studio a couple of weeks ago. It is full of inspiration, direction and instruction from many artist. I devoured it and being a huge fan of Misty Mawn, I was elated to read her directions of two of the pieces in this issue.

Me being Norah's pal took Misty's challenge.

The first one is "Sweet Fern" and will go into my True Colors Journal as one of the "green" pages. Although , I think it would fit the "blue and ochre" page as well. To me, it is her name that relegates her to green. Don't you think?

I enjoyed the workshop immensely. I tried to work fast as Misty says she does and painted both of these yesterday. I'm still not too good with transparency transfers but I did try. I didn't have the egg stamp from Michelle Ward's collection that was featured in this issue. But you know I had carved a stamp the day before of Ashley so I quickly carved an egg stamp for the challenge.

I call this second one, "Willing Heart" and it will go into my True Color Journal as my aqua page.

The bluebird eggs are truly the most beautiful aqua turquoise and both pieces feature a transparency transfer of my bluebird nest box.

Speaking of my True Colors Journal, I have added the artist links back to my side bar (they were there before I changed to the new and improved blogger). Also added links to my other pages.

Well, I guess I don't have to tell you what a great holiday I'm having....It's an ART party weekend!

Here it is...

Now can you guess?

Here is the clue........Me

I really really did intend to play with Emily Falconbridge. At the beginning of the year she started a play-along mini art journal challenge.
She calls it Deck Of Me and just click on the link above to read all about it.
I still want to and have started prepping some of my cards and have actually made one. But I don't know if I want to try to catch up or just start now or what. HELP
So I have made this little pouch to hold a "Deck of Me".....but it is not for me....it is for somebody.
I'm going to send a little prezzie to one of you who played the guessing game. Thank you so much for playing and I will announce who and what later.
I'm just about to finish another project and I am getting so pleased with it and I will show and tell...

Check Off....

Yes. I can check this off the list. Something I have been challenged to do for a long while.

I made a rubber stamp of Ashley. I'm not sure why or what I am going to do with it but I think it might have been norah'S idea in the first place so I just had to do it.

I think it is pretty cool. I have played with this picture before and have shown you but this time I'm showing the original picture below.
I made this fused piece last year and put inside of the book cover. I showed it.

Here is a tag I made last summer for my HeART Journal. Here I printed the the image that I monkeyed with onto scrapbook paper. Like that too.

****

So I don't mean to interrupt the guessing game below. I have finished the project but will wait to show you tomorrow.

***

If you don't want to guess...that's OK...just leave me a comment anyway and I will have a little drawing. How about that?

More later,
Sharon

Now Guess

Every body must be sleeping late.
Not me. I get up earlier on the weekends than on the weekdays.
Things to do. Don't want to waist one minute.
Not many guesses yet on what this is going to be.
Can you guess now?
I'll send you a little prize if you can.
OK, I'm going to go put the finishing touches on it.

Playing Around Tonight

Instead of working on this in-progress-project, I'm just playing around on this Friday night.

***

I know you haven't been around to watch but I have changed my header several times. Now that I have discovered how easy it is, I'll be doing that some more. I have been rather too lazy to even give it a try. But you know what I say, "nothing ever happens before it's time".

Must be time, I know not why yet.

***

About the project. What do you think it is...or rather will be? If you guess before I show you later this weekend, there just might be a little prize for you. You can guess in my comments. Oh, you knew that.

***

The weekend is looking good. You know how excited I get about 3 days...off...in a row... mercy, how I do love that. It is going to be too wet to go around and around on my think tank. Oh darn!

Well, I guess playing around is better than snoozing on the couch. But I think I will go do that.

Doodle-at-the-Desk

Challenge: Pencil
Well that was after I did a pencil rubbing from a smooth stone that Ashley gave me that said "Success".
That is was set the tone. I would say this was pretty much a colorless week. For me anyway.
But you will get no whining from me. I really want to though.
***---***---***---***------;0)
I am looking forward to the weekend (3 days for me). TGIF
As usual, I have a to-do list a mile long. I never get even 1/4 of a mile before time's up. It's not a race, but I would like to cross the finish line once.
Hey, if I do get the ART things done (or even started).....you know I will show you.

Sharon

Sunday Company

Hello Company,
Remember when Susan and I went on a treasure hunt? Well, she is so keen on spotting treasures. That is, she has so much more experience that I.

She found this little black purse for 50 cents and ask didn't I think I could paint something on it.

Sure for 50 cents I'll try.

Today was the day. I painted this sweet lady dreaming.

And on the back is a little collage using my bluebird nest.

I can't seem to get through with these colors. I really do like them and I do believe Norah's had them on her mind as well.

Have a nice day,

The Graduate

Here she is. Every bit of her from tip to toe. She is so pretty and we are so proud of her.

Just attended her Baccalaureate Mass and tomorrow she will graduate from high school.

I really can't believe it. It just seems like yesterday that I sucked myself up against the wall like plaster just hoping the doctor wouldn't notice that I was in the birthing room. He did and said, "come over here granny, you have to see this". I stood right behind him and watched in sheer speechless amazement.

I'll be going to bed now...

Friday again

Yes here it is Friday.
I've been to the Zoo today with a whole bunch of 6th graders.
*
What fun!
*
Now I'm ready to go home and rest and do a good bit of thinking on my think tank. You know the one that I ride around and around for about five hours and then just like magic, the grass is trimmed and looking great. That is if it doesn't rain. It is right now...raining.
*
I'm also going to visit with my aunt's.
*
And I'm going to do some ART.
I hope to finish my new lady. She is really coming along nicely to this point.
*
You know I will show you.

Sharon

New Lady...

in the works.

Here is my model, my sketch, and the start of a new painting.

No, I haven't done anything about that stack of stuff. Not in the mood for that.

This on muslin...now I wish I had started on watercolor paper. Oh well.

Multitasking

That's what I'm doing tonight. I do that a lot. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes not.

Sometimes it's because I just can't focus....I seem to remember I was going to do that this year.

The other day when I was loading all the pictures of the last art journal, I looked over at this, this, this, gosh awful site. So as I was multitasking, I picked up the camera and took the shot. Not too good because I was shooting right into the bright sun. But good enough to show you the mess. See some of my treasure hunt things. Wallpaper. Books. Dustpan....no. Just stacks of stuff. It's just all hanging out.

The chair I painted several years ago. It is for the Garden Palace and someday I'm gonna show and tell about that. Promise.
But not now, I'm multitasking.
I just gessoed a piece of muslin and letting it dry a bit before I iron it dry. I think I will start a lady tonight.
Time's up.

Sharon

Hello

Hello and Thank You to all who left me wonderful comments about this ART Journal. You should see my head today....so big!

***

So here she is ready to go.

***

Also, a few favorite pages. The whole book is at my Flicker spot as a set.

You can view it there and when I get real smart and have more time I am going to add my sets to my sidebar here.

***

Another day.................

You know I had to do a tissue paper collage.

Miss Ashley insisted on being in the book so I did a collage using a collage.

Stormy Weather.....

The other night...Tuesday, I had a post all ready to show a little snippit of the altered book that I am working on. Just as I was about to hit the "publish" button, BANG!!! the lights blinked and just like that all of the post was lost. It was late and I decided to wait until the next morning to repost......got to the office only to find no internet service!!! Lightning sturck the service that we use and it has been out until five minutes ago.

This is inside the front cover and I have used some of my new wallpaper that I got when treasure hunting a couple of weekends ago. This is another altered book art journal that I am starting with a little of my own inspiration and then the person that wins the bid on it will make it theirs by adding their pictures, words and ephemera.

I was ask to give the journal a Mother Daughter theme and it will be auctioned at a Mother-Daughter Tea so I have added a little tea theme as well.

Coffee and Tea is a nursery rhyme and I was inspired to make a page with it.

I haven't photographed all of the book yet and just as soon as I do, you know I will show you. I'm working on the cover and the event is this weekend. So.............
Flap page with a window in it.
