Painting Random

Little by little I will get there. I'm working from the face out on a background of random shapes and colors over random collage papers. I also am trying to be random with strokes but find that so very hard to do.

I do have a theme in mind. And maybe that is the problem. I feel a struggle going on with this piece. I know you know the feeling or is it thoughts. You want to sit down in front of a canvas and just pick up your brush and let the brush paint something spectacular. You can see it in your head. You know it is possible. You think you can do it. You believe you can do it. You want to believe you can do it. And then you start pretending that you can do it. And you promised that you would listen and make random strokes guided by the brush or pencil. And you hope that no matter what disaster appears that you can salvage it.

That's all for now,
S

Excuses

I really do have a lot of excuses that I tell myself when I don't stick with something. The biggest one, the one that gets me off the hook, the one that I always resort to is this: If I were just at home all day every day then I could accomplish all the things that I want to do. And I would have the energy to do those things. And I would still have enough time to sit in the chair too. And I might even want to clean my house too.

I could make a list of all the things that I didn't do over the weekend but I'm afraid it is too boring. I will tell you that this little face is on a big canvas that I didn't stick to and finish.
Tomorrow is another day.

Spring Silk Weaving

I continue to need to touch cloth and stitch. It is a time of thinking about things. I'm so inspired by Jude Hill's journey with cloth and the way she shares her thoughts and techniques. She has inspired me to weave silk directly on the cloth. However, I did it a little different than she showed in her video in this post. I flipped the strips and anchored them before weaving. I only wish I had realized that I could have anchored a second side before weaving.

Confusion in the title of my cloth.
We're expecting again.
Spring can be very tiny.

This is for YOU.

Celebrating Spring

Another Friday is here. Believe it or not. The weekend weather looks promising in my back yard and I plan to do a little spring cleaning out there. There will be nothing to show for it, just a Spring Celebration I guess. I plan to enjoy a random weekend of work and play. Hope you do too.

Bird Friends

The background on the canvas really did speak to me about where the face should be.

8 X 24 is very hard to photograph

I don't know their story yet.
But she surely has one.
Hope you have a great "random" week.

My Moods

Hope you don't mind that I share with you in bits and pieces.
Above is what I did to the the collage background in my last post.
I was inspired to use the colors again that I used in this piece.
Which by the way was part of week four lesson of Faces: All Norah'S workshop.
So, anyway the above background was all ready for the weekend and I had an inkling of what I wanted to paint. And I did paint some.
But the problem was that I really wasn't in a painting mood.
Now I don't know about you but it sure aggravates me to be waiting for the weekend and excited to paint and yet not in the mood. How can one have both feelings all at the same time?
I don't know.
But I did sit in the chair all day Sunday thinking about it.
While I did that my painting in progress was going through the "stare" stage.
I did not like the stiffness of my birdie's legs.
So this morning during my hour of art, I just collaged right over them.

And then I put the background back in.
My philosophy: If I did it once, I can do it again.
Just had to show him.
Hopefully this work in progress will be ready for my next post.

I will say that I'm feeling the mood to paint.
Thanks for listening today.
