You know, for close up detail, just click on the picture. About Miss Piggy, you'll know which one she is...well she came to the party uninvited. I decided she could stay.
So now what, you ask. I probably won't work much more this weekend and I can tell you I'm getting FLESH out of my system. I was challenged to try a different FLESH tone for each of these color fairies. Working this small is also a challenge.
Art-at-the-Desk
My www was down most of yesterday here at the office. So, I had time on my brain. I'm challenged with this little Sharpie. You have to move fast because it bleeds on this scrapbook cardstock...no erasing.
I haven't done much more to the front cover. Just a little tweaking. I guess I will finish it when I know what the title is. You know, it's one of those things that you wake up one morning and know. In the meantime, I'm am loving the challenge of Flesh, my color.
I may or may not be finished with this front cover for my True Colors Journal. Probably not, because I have such a hard time with collage. I have to study it for a while. It doesn't come easy for me. But oh how I do love this lady and this is my first real effort with my new heavy body acrylics. You may remember I told about this new project back in early September. Can't believe it has taken me over a month to get started.
For my cover, I'm using an old gutted peel and stick album. It is actually the one on top shown on the left. I recovered it with a duck or canvas cloth and gessoed it. I plan to work on my pages unbound so I can have the freedom of working flat. I still have some work to do with my chosen color, flesh, before starting with the color inspiration of each artist featured in the True Colors book.
I have some thoughts about the direction I will go with this; however, since I never get where I'm going with my planned direction, I will just keep those thought to myself for now.
More later,
Sharon
PS I had a great ART weekend. How bout U?
This is my HeART Journal page that inspired me.
Although I like the results, I'm not sure if it was worth the time spent making this background with little bitty squares for this ATC. Actually, I did it three times. Each time I thought...well I don't know what I thought. I am glad that I scanned it because now I can print it any size and use it in other ways. Love that.
This is the last ATC that I made and I did select it as one of three that I sent in for the International Quilt Festival in Houston as mentioned in an earlier post. My friend Susan made three and Tim sent his too. How cool is that?
While many of you had a day off for Columbus Day yesterday, I didn't. However, it was very quite and so I had Art-at-the-desk-time. This is what I did. These are so fun to make and I have not exhausted the theme I have going as I try to perfect my process. I am using a homemade rubber stamp in the background and my ladies printed on pattern tissue. I also finished up a couple more last night when I got home. Haven't scanned them yet, but will, don't you know. Must show.
Very first ATCs. My ladies printed on pattern tissue (of course). I learned that I had to paint
the face on the back side to block. In other words, I want some areas to be opaque but not all.
At this point,I'm realizing this could become a serious addiction.
I will trade. Will you?
Took a little walk as there is not much ART going on just now. We are enjoying a beautiful October morning in Texas. The Tall Goldenrod Solidago altissima is beautiful. It blooms in September and October here.
This is Common Wild Petunia Ruellia nudiflora. The bloom period here is April to October.
I believe this is Yellow Bitterweed Helenium amarum. An annual with a bloom period of April to November.
She is in my "in progress" stack. Maybe I will continue with her next. I am having trouble with energy at night. I am also having trouble with no "art at the desk" time.
