More FLESH
So now what, you ask. I probably won't work much more this weekend and I can tell you I'm getting FLESH out of my system. I was challenged to try a different FLESH tone for each of these color fairies. Working this small is also a challenge.
I hope you are enjoying watching my page in progress. Are you?

Yesterday's Doodle
My www was down most of yesterday here at the office. So, I had time on my brain. I'm challenged with this little Sharpie. You have to move fast because it bleeds on this scrapbook cardstock...no erasing.

True Colors Back Cover
I haven't done much more to the front cover. Just a little tweaking. I guess I will finish it when I know what the title is. You know, it's one of those things that you wake up one morning and know. In the meantime, I'm am loving the challenge of Flesh, my color.
Have you ever done a piece of art and been pleased with it enough to show and tell and then many years later you come across the piece and wonder why you thought it was good or at least OK? I'm wondering if someday I will feel that way about the things that I am doing these days.

True Colors Cover
I may or may not be finished with this front cover for my True Colors Journal. Probably not, because I have such a hard time with collage. I have to study it for a while. It doesn't come easy for me. But oh how I do love this lady and this is my first real effort with my new heavy body acrylics. You may remember I told about this new project back in early September. Can't believe it has taken me over a month to get started.
For my cover, I'm using an old gutted peel and stick album. It is actually the one on top shown on the left. I recovered it with a duck or canvas cloth and gessoed it. I plan to work on my pages unbound so I can have the freedom of working flat. I still have some work to do with my chosen color, flesh, before starting with the color inspiration of each artist featured in the True Colors book.
I have some thoughts about the direction I will go with this; however, since I never get where I'm going with my planned direction, I will just keep those thought to myself for now.

Another Weekend almost here
This is the last ATC that I made and I did select it as one of three that I sent in for the International Quilt Festival in Houston as mentioned in an earlier post. My friend Susan made three and Tim sent his too. How cool is that?
More Later,
Sharon
PS The weekend plan? Not sure but it will definitely be about ART. Cause I have made time.
Tim's ATC
Timothy saw me having so much fun making ATCs that he wanted to make one too. This is the lady that I sketched using his sister as my model. I had printed it on pattern tissue and he ask to use it. He very strategically layered it over printed scrapbook paper. He has a real eye for design. That's my opinion.

Would You Like To Trade?
the face on the back side to block. In other words, I want some areas to be opaque but not all.
At this point,I'm realizing this could become a serious addiction.
I will trade. Will you?
So, the reason I have ventured into this new fun is because Cloth Paper Scissors will be at the International Quilt Festival in Houston and they are hosting a mixed-media Artist Trading Card (ATC) exhibit and trade. I'm thinking about sending mine. For all the poop, you can go here.

October Saturday
Remember I grow weeds!
This is Common Wild Petunia Ruellia nudiflora. The bloom period here is April to October.
I believe this is Yellow Bitterweed Helenium amarum. An annual with a bloom period of April to November.
OK, so we will be attending our 45/44 year class reunion tonight. That should be fun. Can't wait to see who shows up.
In the meantime I think this golden and purple has inspired me.......but first, I must find my workspace. Know what I mean?

Meet Lady Susan
But did I tell you that I spent over 2 hours on that "think tank"? Thinking and mowing. Boy that feels good even though I didn't finish. ART has trumped yard work this year. I'm OK with tall grass down by the creek and behind the tank and over by the Garden Palace. I just call it my Tall Grass Meadow.
I also blessed the bedroom and the big news is I moved that dad- blamed treadmill out of the bedroom and to the office. And even better news, I walked it yesterday and today.
