About self paced study format and Denmark

The Postcard Challengers are working on Week 44.
I just finished Week 31, Denmark.
Which is the lesson for Week 17 in A Diary of Faces. The lesson is about painting hair.

A Diary of Faces Weeks 1 through 9 is available in a Self Paced Study format.
Notice I said "Self Paced".
That means,
I changed the format by adding comment walls and a gallery forum.

It all came down to the fact that the classroom was just too quiet.
I really enjoy having a conversation with the students
and being able to see their art
and answering their questions
and seeing them interact with all the other students.

So, if you like that too, I hope you will jump in.
for your self paced study.

PS.  I will be adding a classroom for weeks 10 through 18 soon too.

Smiling from the studio in Orvieto

I never stopped smiling while in Orvieto but my favorite time was while in the studio with Misty and all of the beautiful Artist.
In my little town, I just don't get to share art space like that.
Here, a study of values and seeing light and dark shapes.
With reference in hand Misty challenged us to start without a sketch, lay in the dark shapes with charcoal and then manipulate the charcoal to get all of the values.
I was satisfied to find Professor Doctor Tad Keys right there in the studio of Orvieto. No need to travel to Pelago.
Dot snapped this one from here side of the studio. Thank you Dot!
Next up: Do the same thing but with paint and and no sketch.
Me still smiling on the last evening when we showed and shared.

Tad and Vanzie A Pretty Mystery

The map for BAHA was for the front end paper.
I always knew I would draw a map for the book.
I waited for the inspiration.
It wasn't happening.
Until I "started" last weekend.
Now, I'm mulling over the map for Pelago.
Did I tell you how much fun map making is?

I always wait for inspiration before painting my altered book covers.
I got it.
I refined the old sketch and he became sort of pretty.
But I like him anyway.
I haven't painted the original canvas yet because I don't usually like to do the same one twice. Or rather, I fear I can't please myself the second time.
Anyway, I merged the two sketches in Photoshop and transferred it to the newly made book cover.
Then I painted.
My Diary of Faces is now...
Tad and Vanzie
a pretty mystery
and
I Love All of IT!

Could this be Tad?

This is the quick sketch that I did from a favorite TV program. I think it was spring of 2011. My intention was to paint it like a woman even though the TV character was a man. I kept it sitting in my view for months and months. Eventually, I got tired of the "sit and stare" stage and many times thought I should just wipe it off. Instead, I put it out of sight and never thought about it again until I began to wonder what Tad looks like. I'm thinking he looks just like this.

It was the top hat that I did a very poor sketch of that drew me in with inspiration.  Does anyone know who the TV character? It doesn't look like him.

OMG! Norah'S known all along who this is. I told you we are on a need-to-know basis. .....to be continued. I want to hear your guesses.

PS....today.....my first real official day of retirement!
