Class Videos start tomorrow

Hey all,
Of Towers and Turrets videos start tomorrow.  Then some on Friday and Saturday.  All the class videos will be up for viewing in the next three days.

We have a great group of students already there and waiting but would love to have you too.

Also, Faces in Collage is still going strong.  You won't believe what they are doing and I plan to have another student showcase soon.

None of that has anything to do with this picture.  It is just a little project I'm working on.
Wishing you all a great season and Merry Christmas.
And thanking you all for being a part of my life.

Morning ART

For today's MorningART, I made these bezels.  Now that I know how to actually make a piece of jewelry, I am excited to make more Of Towers & Turrets. (session 2 starts Friday)  I haven't poured the resin yet but the image that I used is from this collage sheet.

The current MorningART videos continue and 7th in the series was posted today.
Enjoy,

The Build Zone

As you know, my friend, Deryn and I are running a Second Session of our class Of Towers and Turrets. Registration is open now and the session starts on April 1st.
But, did you know my friend, Deryn has a class called The Build Zone that is still in session?  I am taking her class and these pictures are from my first efforts.  While watching her videos, I took detailed notes and then went to the table and tried the techniques. I kept practicing until I thought "I got it".
I was very anxious to design my own piece of jewelry using a focal from Of Towers and Turrets.  But jewelry design seemed to come slow to me.  Here is what I learned; I think it felt so unfamiliar and difficult to me because I don't wear jewelry.  And I have resisted making it and learning how to make it for various reasons. But I'M HOOKED!!!
Here is something else I learned;  I'm also hooked on making little sketches of the planned piece.  I discovered this while at my desk in town with the box of elements and beads all laid out in my design.  I was so frustrated that I couldn't be at my desk at home putting it together.  And thinking I would never remember the layout. I started this little sketch and Oh My! What fun that was.
Now at home, I can follow my sketch step by step.  As it comes together, I can make little changes if I want.
This is the beginning.  I will work a bit more on it today but the weather here is so beautiful that I think I will also go outside and work in my gardens and yard.
Enjoy your weekend,
♥Sharon

Secret Moments

I did it!
From the original painting shown at the top, I have cropped sweet spots and composed a collage sheet that is now available
as a digital download at my Etsy shop.

There will be more.  I really think this is something that will inspire and encourage creativity.

You are pretty

Did you know I too am a student at Of Towers and Turrets online workshop?
It's true and I have to say I learn a new lesson with each pendant that I make.
Actually, now that I think of it, I feel the same way after each of my paintings.
What I'm saying is there is always one little something that I might do different or change.

The top three photos are my pendant shown laying on the original piece of art.
Did you notice how I made a new little collage in the pendant.
That is one of the things that excites me about this project.
I am very excited to tell you that I am about to offer collage sheets from the original Castle Towers paintings;
as well as, from the original Towers and Turrets paintings.

There are endless possibilities of designing little collage pieces for the pendents.
I have several ready to list but I might have to just get it done one at a time.
I keep waiting for a big enough block of time and that just isn't happening.

One more thing.....where did this week go to?
I will be flying to Italy is 16 days.
OK, that was random to you but oh my how it is on my mind.
♥ Sharon
PS:  Glitter for the princess is another thing that excites me about this project.
PSS:  Do you remember that piece of an old ear ring that I shared in an earlier post? That's it between the bezels....another thing that excites me about this project.
PSSS:  Thank you to all my "followers" and "commenters"....You are Pretty!

I resisted

I'm telling you I have resisted and resisted and resisted this jewelry making thing. Well there are just so many hours in a day and I am so devoted to having a paint brush in my hand and I knew that there wasn't time for making jewelry and besides that I don't even wear jewelry because I am allergic to all metals but gold and silver so I'm just sayin, she wore me down. (big breath)
Don't misunderstand me. She hasn't nagged or anything like that. It's just the exquisite pieces she makes are exactly what I would wear if I could.
I never doubted the fun to be had making jewelry. No, not for a moment. I knew I would fall hard for it. That is why I resisted. Hear ye, hear ye, I'M HOOKED.
And look here, you can repurpose old costume jewelry that can be found at thrift stores and garage sales and maybe even in you own hoarding spot. Join the fun at Of Towers and Turrets and find out how.

Of Towers and Turrets mixed media class sample

I've been working on this all week. Just a little here and a little there. I really feel good when I'm able to squeeze in morning ART time. But you know what? I would feel really really very really good if I could just sit and paint and collage all day. Some day (sigh).

Deryn and I are thrilled with the excitement and buzz going on already in the Of Towers and Turrets classroom. Everybody is excited about getting new tools and supplies and we are excited right along with them. If you've been on the fence about signing up, wait no longer. The first lesson videos will be up Friday and we would love to see you there.

Work table

How about a Look at my work table. That's always fun. Not much to say about it except I had an enjoyable afternoon playing ART.
Actually, I enjoyed the whole weekend. I'm still working in the zones. Did you know zones can be as small at 2 foot square. Or maybe a large as a sock drawer. Or maybe just one side of the driveway. Or the shape of one hedge.
The day before my husband's accident, he had pledged to clean the garage the following weekend to make room for his new boat. Oh mercy, if you could see our garage! Needless to say, the cleaning didn't happen. But I have a game going with myself. And that is to find one thing in the garage everyday that can be tossed.
Here is the list so far: A humongous cracked garden pot, a pair of (my) rain boots (no good), two heavy duty extension cords that had been cut or burned (by me), a box of left over ceramic tiles, 4 empty plastic one-gallon containers that were brittle and falling apart when touched, two (not empty) five gallon cooking oil (big fish fry) containers, chewed up dog dish, two rusted stadium seats, an empty 409 bottle and one big box of printed papers. I am making progress. Really I am.
Do you like the "window secret" girl? She is demonstrated in the soon to be available, Of Towers and Turrets online class.

Me again just Being

I was awake this morning before the break of day just mulling over what accomplishments were in store for today. In other words my mental things-to-do list. That is a good sign because for a while lately this in-bed morning routine of thinking or trying to think of what I will do only confused me and I didn't feel like I was accomplishing much of what I needed to be doing. I wasn't getting out of bed with a plan.

Then I got up and it was still before daylight. I sneak out of bed as quiet as I can be and heat water in the microwave for my cup of coffee. Will the ding wake him? No it didn't. I carry my flip flops because ....will the flip flop wake him? Maybe as I walk right past his bedside. Then, I turn on the computer wondering if the opening melody will wake him, (who cares?) Well, it didn't. I thought the sprinkler was set to run this morning but then remembered I changed it when we were having lots of rain. So I quietly unlock and open the back door. Will the lock clink wake him? No it didn't. So I'm sitting at the computer surfing and start sneezing. Yep he woke him.

I guess this is going to be all about me today. I'm trying real hard to balance all the things that I need to do with what I want to do and what I must do. I've had an awakening. For a long time, I have let things go. You know, dusting, moping, house stuff that took time but wasn't absolutely necessary, along with outside stuff like mowing, trimming, hedges, dead branches on the ground, sweeping the garage etc. I thought someone else might take charge and do these things if I didn't because I had to do ART. The awakening; these things are to him like house stuff is to me, not absolutely necessary.

Now, I know without a doubt that not only will he not do the things but it will be a long time before he actually can do these things. So, that's OK. I am learning how to balance things and get everything back in order. I do really like having a beautifully trimmed yard and gardens. August is usually the time of year that I fizzle out as far as the yard goes. But this year, I'm trying to be energized. He did provide me with a brand new school bus yellow "think tank" this week as my old one was just on it's last leg and such a chore to even use. He didn't think we should spend anymore money on it. I finally agreed and had the mower delivered Thursday. Yesterday, before the dew on the grass had dried, I was out with the weed trimmer with a goal of just which "zone" I would trim. Then, as soon as the dew on the grass dried, I got acquainted with my new think tank. What a pleasure it was to go around and around thinking and thinking for a couple of hours with my new and improved work horse. Again, I set out with a certain zone to accomplish. Later in the day when I went back out to take care of the dog chores which includes hosing out the kennels and feeding them, I got back on my new mower and tackled another zone.

Zones. It's all about zones for me. That is how I'm going to get the balance back into my home life, office life, and most importantly art life. So each morning before leaving the bed, I choose what I will do in each zone. I have house zones, yard zones, office zones and studio zones. And of course there is always that chair zone that swallows me up each evening as I crash land.

Today's zone is mostly in the studio, working on my new class collaboration. I need this to be done so I can create the painting of three sisters standing tall that is in my head. That is another good thing; the paintings lining up, in waiting in my head.

OK, I'm just being me here. It is better than nothing.

I Lost My Way

Sometimes, it is just plain hard to find a way back to blogging.
I have a new schedule of things-to-do for now and I am beginning to adjust.
But adjusting doesn't seem to keep me from crashing in the chair at night instead of creating art or blog posts.
I tell you this office has been so quite this week. Dear husband hasn't left the bedroom since he had surgery last Thursday and we came home on Saturday.
That means I'm in charge big time around here.
I'm in charge of this office....that's probably nothing new but I do miss his company.
I'm in charge of what and when he eats.....that's probably nothing new either but I do have to serve him. When I say he hasn't left the bedroom, I really mean he hasn't left the bedroom. He is being extra careful and is not to put any weight on his left leg at all for 6 weeks. He is in a straight cast type splint and can hop on one foot on crutches.
I mean to ask him but I really don't imagine that he played much hop-scotch as a kid because he is not too good hopping on one foot.
He will go next Wednesday to have staples removed and then maybe he will venture out of the bedroom.

Deryn and I want so bad to start signing you up for the new class,
Of Towers and Turrets
An Exquisite Fusion of Mixed Media and Mixed Metals.

The fact is my husband's accident and Deryn's change in vacation plans just gave us a little delay.
We have great hopes of greeting you and welcoming you next week.
We have a fun little video ready to show and tell about the class as well as a very in depth description of what all the hoopla is about.
Looking forward to a great weekend and wish one for you too.

Slinging Paint

This morning I just needed to sling, fling, scrap, brush, stamp, wipe, and smoosh, PAINT!!! You know what I mean? Put it on, cover it up, wipe it off, put some more back on and on and on and on. I needed to do that. Whew!! I feel so much better. I made four backgrounds just like this.

Happy to have a restful Sunday to recover from another marathon two and half days with my friend Deryn. Yep, we are a whole lot closer to opening registration for our mixed media and mixed metals class. We are going to tell you all about it and show you all about it but the backgrounds above are a little peep at some of the mixed media in the class.

♥♥♥

On another front, my DH is doing much better from his boating accident. Actually, it was a preboating accident. The motor was running, he was about to get in and drive the boat off the trailer when he slipped and fell on the concrete ramp in the water. As he fell, he pushed the boat off the trailer and it was drifting in the lake with the motor running and he could not get up. Long story short, help came in the form of two good Samaritans who helped him fetch the boat, put it on the trailer and load him (literally) into his truck. He could drive because it was his left leg that was like a wet noodle and he was in no pain. I was on my way to meet him at the lake when it happened so he waited for me and then I followed him to the ER which was very conveniently only about 3 miles down the road. All is well, he will see an orthopedic surgeon Thursday to access whether or not he will need surgery to reattach muscle tissue.
Did I thank you for being out there even in my absence? Thank you!
