The Heiman's go to Austria

One Hundred Faces

Mr Heiman
Well, I know you are not going to believe this but,
this is the Heiman's.
Yes it is.
You see, on another world wide trip, they went to Austria.
Again, just happen to dine with an artist from the House of Klimt.

Gustav was taken with the couple and suggested they sit for him.
They were thrilled.
He did his magic and they left with yet another likeness "in the eyes of the artist".

I have painted each little square in rows six and seven of One Hundred Faces.
I especially like that Mr and Mrs Heiman show up in these rows.
Who knows where they may go next.

About Klimt Inspriation

A 14 x 17 book, Gustav Klimt by Rachael Barnes
This is a coffee table book.
If you love Klimt like I do, you will want and need this book.

I purchased it on a trip to California several years ago and wagged it back as "carry on".
It is huge and heavy.

Love by Gustav Klimt
This painting, Love, is the inspriation for my next several faces for
About Love
Here is why I love this book.
In addition to all the beautiful prints of his works, the history and unknown details are also included.
I hope you can read the text in the photo below.
It is about the painting and gives me chills.

About Love, the painting by Gustave Klimt

A must have from me
This book has inspired me and my art many times.
Many times I have been inspired to make an online course using this book as the premise for the class.
Then I get cold feet.

Face No 47 is the first of several Faces from this inspiration.

Most of the dime-zone faces are not meant to be seen enlarged.
They show too much.

I have more from this inspiration painting and will post them separately.

I'm still aiming for One Hundred Faces

I tried so hard on this one but just never satisfied myself with it.
Maybe I will have a do-over with her face before I get to One Hundred Faces.

Below is Adam and Eve by Gustave Klimt.
This is one of my most favorite paintings because it was in progress at his death in 1918 and therefore unfinished.

I like that we get to have a peek at some of his unfinished works because of the art story about his process they tell.

I have a desk calendar that is easier to study than this image.
All I can say is there are many layers in all stages and I can sit and stare at them for hours.

And then, I sit and wonder what it might have looked like finished.

Time for Klimt

You know.
I have been inspired by Gustav Klimt since I first saw a print of "The Kiss" hanging in a friends home more than ten years ago.

Face 42 and 29
I have never been inspired to copy or replicate his work.
However, I have been inspired by all of the elements he employs. One for example, the way he turns faces sideways. But more than that, I love the decorative flowers, geometric shapes, colors, gold, and busy sometime flat background decorations.

I am fascinated with the way he gets depth of emotion, as well as, depth within the work while juxtaposing large areas of flat decoration with sensual figures.

It felt right to include my version of details from his famous works of fine art in my project of One Hundred Faces.

Quiet pleased with myself

...because I finished the birdbath base
and
I really really like it.
Next, I have to make a water saucer to go on top.

Have you ever created a mosaic with broken tiles?

Guess where my new studio is

It's in the garden of course.
In the Klimt garden.
 I'm laughing at myself.
It didn't take me long to move outside and set up a new studio.
This is what I do while on gardening breaks.
After all, this is one of those "when I retire" projects.
I'm headed out now....to the Klimt Garden and Studio.

Blog Book

Finally!

I did it!

I just ordered my first Blog Book. I can't give you a review on the end product yet because I don't expect it in the mail for a couple of weeks.

I did want to share today because this is the last day for Blog2Print's promotional.
..... to get 20% off your blog book! Through June 11th, use coupon code Save20B2P to save 20% on the best book made by you: your blog book.
It is easy to try, just click on the link above.

I used these two pictures from my second post, May 4, 2006.

I used one for the front cover and one for the back cover. Oh and my first book is only for the year 2006 and is over 300 pages so I enjoyed the 20% off.

One more thing, I wish these benches still looked this great/fresh. As I have been working out in my gardens these past few days, I have been thinking about how to bring them back to this gorgeous state. I love them.

PS  I really really really would love for you to add your link of what you studio creative space looks like.  See the below post for details. It's fun!
