Bird Box

watching and expecting.........

I don't expect more than 5 eggs. However I will be watching.

Thank you all so much for your encouragement about my new fun thing to do. I promise I will have more art tutorials soon.

Until then, I better get busy with this desk-work.
Expect,
Sharon

Movie Day

Good morning,
Please forgive me while I just practice a little with You Tubing. All of your comments yesterday just fed my ego. And I had not even heard the birds singing and chirping in the background until mentioned in comments. So, when listening to the birdbox, turn up the sound all the way. The box faces tress that are full of all kinds of happy birds in the early morning. So the sound track is provided by them.

Today's movie is in three parts. My original plan was to string it together into one move. But, more fun this way.

Just in case there some new-to-blogging folks, just click on the arrow in the middle of the frame and wait for the movie to start. They are short and it shouldn't take too long if you are on a high speed internet connection. Otherwise, you might have to wait a little.

Expect more from the birdbox tomorrow,
Sharon

Expect Spring

Just my first try at posting a video. Expect it to work. Expect a surprise. Expect more. More means we will follow the progress of this beautiful event.
For me, Expect means being prepared.

Morning Sunshine

Good Morning,
Just in case you thought I was sitting on my duff doing nothing, here is a little in-progress from yesterday.
I made a movie with my new Flip to show you just exactly how this was painted.
I am afraid it is so long that I will have to charge admission. It's good; however, being my first attempt, I am having to learn all about the editing and I guess I thought that part would go a little faster.
So here is the plan. I'll be back later today to show you what's next with her. That should be fast and take little or no editing so wish me luck with that.
Oh, by the way, this is painted on cardboard. FUN. And inspired by Mystele at Little Glimpses Studio.
Expect me back,
Sharon

Breath now

Behind Shadows
available at All Norah'S Art Etsy

This is not necessarily what I thought I was going to do yesterday when I showed her. I just knew there was more to be done.
I spent some time looking for words to add. And then I started getting a message about not forcing "words" just for the sake of words. She was telling me that when standing in shadows words are secrets for only those who join her behind the shadows.
I do really really like it and I don't know maybe what I did wasn't all that dramatic of a change. But I knew It wasn't finished even though I could have stopped. I was thinking maybe that was the point that I might sign it and then have that nagging question of "what's the point" that sometimes, a lot of times, nearly always, I am left with after a painting. That question is really beginning to annoy me. I thought maybe I need to push it a little more; go deeper; paint another level; add another layer of texture; paint a painting on top of a painting. Does any of this make any sense?
So I did. And I didn't get the "what's the point?" question. She is demur and intriguing and holding secrets behind shadows.
Is it what you expected?

Hold your breath

OK, I wanted to show you this because I really really like it. And I'm hoping you can click on it and see all the wonderful texture as I have tried to leave it large. Texture is what I was inspired and challenged to try this weekend. I have always liked texture but we just keep smoothing and smoothing and blending and blending. This texture was allowed to dry and was all ready for me this morning.

But here the deal. I'm showing you because I think or I feel that I am about to do something drastic to this painting that I really really like. OK, it's just paint ......right?

Expect a difference,
Sharon

I am

I am who I am. I am just no good at this exercise. It was the journal prompt that Misty Mawn suggested. Of course I want to play but ...but...I find it very hard to say who I am. A quick pencil sketch-at-the-desk is who I am. And so I glued it down to a page that I had already prepped a bit in my Junk Paper Journal. Then I glued the blue stuff down. Love that stuff. It's a secret ingredient that was in my art-at-the-desk sack.

I expect I better get back to work.

Silly Girl

I wanted to tell the story of Silly Girl but then when I try to put in into words, it makes no sense, or rather it seems silly. So I will just leave this silly girl feeding the wooden birds with you. But I really did see a yellow bird at my window while painting her face. That was before I knew there would be yellow birds to feed. I thought she would be feeding chickens.
*************************
Here is something I have been meaning to tell you about.
Just click here to check it out.
Yep, me again.
I am thrilled to have an article published in the premier issue of
Somerset Apprentice
which will be available on March 1st.
Here is what Somerset says,
"Our new publication Somerset Apprentice is a much more basic
and thorough understanding of techniques geared toward people who aspire to make
Somerset-esque art but need to learn the fundamentals through easy-to-understand instructions and close-up photos. Somerset Apprentice will focus on the basic
how to's of amazing artwork."
Can't wait to see it.

Friends

One of those days that I knew it would be interesting to see a
beginning.
The canvas already had the background color.
Sure enough, it was meant to be covered.

I have been on a bit of a painting strike. We just didn't want to paint.
It was a good feeling.
To paint.
And to get a bit of paper napkin therapy.
Today.

My Day

More from my Junk Paper Journal. I expect to send this on to The Crafty Scrapper this week for the class sample, but I keep playing just a little more in it. The workshop is about the construction of the journal using Junk Paper. And then adding bits and pieces of inspiration. As you can see, my short page above is part of a security envelope. It's about my "sunflower day". Do you know what that is?
Expect many of them.

Sugar Sack

I told you there was a sugar sack in the little grungy journal. It gave me some fun art-at-the-desk during lunch break. Something new for me is cutting magazines. I learned to rip pages out of book about three years ago and now I'm learning to cut magazines. Oh this altered art stuff, I just love it. Anyway, the words were just laying on the art desk waiting to be glued somewhere.
Expect sweetness,
Sharon

Paper Girls

One is looking out the window.

That's it. That's what I did today. I made paper girls. She isn't new as I made some similar last year about this time. I'm showing these before sending off them off to The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie. I will be teaching a morning class in on April 11.
Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was so so.
Expect a great week.
