Stupendous

This is what I've been working on this weekend. It's gonna be stupendous.....I tell you. My self-challenge was to paint on top and yet around the design of napkins. And to paint quick faces. So that is what I've been doing. I just thought I'd show and tell this stage of my project. None are finished. And I know how you love to see a messy desk, sorry I think I cropped most of it out.

You may or may not have any idea how fun it is to get published. Let me tell you it is an artist high point. I'm just saying and speaking for myself.

This is the new/premier issue of Somerset Apprentice which I was so excited to have an article published in. Again, speaking for myself, I think Apprentice will become one of their best-selling magazines. I hope you get a chance to check it out. I promise you will not be disappointed. Everything about it is superb. Their layouts, the photography, and of course the how-to articles by the artist. I can't wait to try some of the new things gleaned from this issue.

Look for me starting on page 122. And
Expect more,
Sharon

  9. Look at those lovely eyes and mouths with such ease it appears you create these beautiful faces with all the additions that make wonderful art. For me it takes great practice and I have been practicing. I ruined one piece this morning that was actually quite good I thought. Will try again. Have to make oneself feel better after a loss.

I am looking forward to the new Somerset mag and being published in it. I can sort of imagine the
brain activity that comes with such accomplishment.

I must work so all my women aren't smirking.

Your are such an inspiration, not just the paintings but just words, it all goes together for such a lovely site to visit.

I tend to waste time lately.

  18. I'm going to start a collection of "magazines Sharon has been published in". That is my new criteria for buying an (ahem, expensive) magazine.

  19. You probablyhear "thank You" a lot it can never be said to much. (well gushing is a little...)
It really pushes me to come visit your blog, and usually Feb. and March are very difficult month for me to get through. You have helped a great deal as I ca't wait to paint and create. There is a lot of talk about making contributions to society lately and you really make a big one with your blog. That is really time given. So Thank you again.

I found a vinyl doily today in a cabinet downstairs near my studio
it really is a placemat but I can cut out a circle pattern for smaller pieces or work.

I don't have any idea if one is suppose to talk this much in a blog I may have poor blog manners.

  26. I cannot wait to see the finished product, Sharon. I bought my copy of this magazine yesterday on your recommendation, and you were absolutely right. I certainly was not disappointed and I was so glad to see you in it. Somerset's publications are a wealth of inspiration to me. Someday I hope I can work up the nerve to send them something for publication.

  27. I was so glad to find the new S. Apprentice magazine today. That full page of your art is wonderful to see.

Today again I typed in platic doilies in google and there with info to your blog was my statement
about being jealous of a plastic doily.

I did find one at a thirft store today so feel quite happy for 95cents. It was laying at the bottom of the bin. Like striking gold when I touched that plastic.
Not even the Dollar Store carries them.

So glad to read your spread in the magazine.

  35. Sharon, I love love love your article in Cloth Paper Scissors (Jan/Feb '09). I have been on the lookout for napkins ever since and used one as a background in a piece I did.

Can you tell me the difference between using napkins versus tissue paper? Any difference?
