Timekeeper

I'm finally getting started on the Sketchbook Project. It took four weeks for the Moleskin to arrive and then I had to put it off a bit more. Today I official became the Timekeeper. You see each participant is assigned a theme and mine is "Time". This should be easy as I'm always talking about needing time; more time; enough time; etc etc etc...........

Update on our life: my Mother-in-law passed away last week. She had reached the end of her time. We will grieve for her but she had a long life and we feel blessed with that.

I started a new Thanksgiving tradition at the Tomlinson house this year by celebrating Thanksgiving with dinner on the Saturday before. Ryan and Kristy didn't get to be with us because Ryan is not doing well right now. Kevin and Zack came as did Melissa, Timothy and Ashley who declared the dressing the best ever.

I'm sitting here right now feeling stuffed after finishing the leftovers and happy after playing ART all day.

Expect Time,

Sharon

  1. I have been worried about you, thinking of family illness. My thoughts are with you as you work through the loss of your MIL. It was about the same time of year mine passed 3 yrs. ago. I miss her frequently. It is surprising
for me the times that I have the missing. She was an artist, poet,
    song writer.

Your time keeping women are beautiful. So much accomplished.
I was surprised after a death in the family how much I could paint.
I especially like the backgrounds, the numbers and of course with time this is probably obvious, but they are so perfect.

I was amused to see the rool of hair on the first piece of work.
My first art quilt in August had these curls across the top of the womans head. Husband was put in mind of long ago rollers.

I wish you fond memories as you go into a new week of finding time.

  3. Love, love, love- the time keepers. This is probably the strongest connection I have felt to one of your pieces yet. Time has been my eternal struggle as I strive to determine my place before...anyhow, did I mention I love, love, love this piece?

  4. Sharon, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. They say time heals all wounds but I still miss my Mom terribly even after 28 years.
The time keepers are the best. I like the second one...the hair and the hidden numbers.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  6. So sorry to hear about the passing of you MIL. Hopefully time will heal the void left by the passing of someone special. I lost my MIL in April this year and she was a one in a million lady but I have her with me everyday in all sorts of ways! I love your time keeping women...so beautiful. "Time" is so special in so many ways and is a learning that we all need to share. You are in my thoughts!

  10. Hi Sharon,
Love your Time.. and the girls faces are a hoot. They look as if they are afraid there won't be enough time. "your point is getting across"! lol
Moleskine:.. I bought one recently and drew 2 faces with pencil. I did not know you could paint in them. Can you use water or acylics? Or both?
Please let me know.. that would be wonderful to do a project as you are doing.
Also.. RYAN.. Please know, my prayers continue..
    Hugs, Darlene xo

  11. Sorry to hear about the loss of a family member Sharon. That is always hard. Somehow it all fits in with "Timekeeper" tho. As always, I'm anxious to see how this journal evolves.

  13. I am so sorry for your loss. It is never easy to lose a loved one at any stage of life. It's especially hard during the holiday season, I lost my mom two years ago in December and the holidays will never be the same again. Keep those who mean the most close to you, it will help.

  14. Sharon, I'm so sorry for your loss and for more hard days for little Ryan. Our family has been known to make Thanksgiving a "movable feast" at times if it made it easier for everyone to be together. Your timekeeper art is wonderful! Blessings to you and your family.

  15. Hello My Friend!,
I am sending loving hugs to you, your husband, and family. Loss of any kind, regardless of circumstance or age, leaves a mark.

Love the pieces for your sketchbook...I agree, it took way long to get them. I had signed up and waited and waited and waited...and when it finally came I just put it aside because I would not have enough time :)
BUT, now that it's extended..I may just have enough...time. :)

  16. Sharon, I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's been so great to "get to know you" via Mystele's class. I'm thrilled to have crossed your path. Your art pieces inspire me so much. I love your faces. They're so haunting. "When I grow up, I want to paint faces like Sharon" :)

Out of interest, what Moleskine do you have in terms of size?
