Good Moring Zorana

Hey Hello my friend,
All day yesterday I meant to show you my new walk path.  Yes, the weather here was beautiful and I did go for a walk.  We had snow on the ground Friday and I stayed home from the office for a great and productive three day weekend, but as you can see the snow is all gone now.  I put on my new mud boots because I could indeed encounter mud in this pasture that is bordered by the creek on two sides.

As I start walking here, and go through the gate, I am reminded of this Navajo Prayer that I recently discovered.
Walking in Beauty
In beauty I walk
With beauty before me I walk
With beauty behind me I walk
With beauty above me I walk
With beauty around me I walk
It has become beauty again
Today I will walk out, today everything negative will leave me
I will be as I was before, I will have a cool breeze over my body.
I will have a light body, I will be happy forever, nothing will hinder me.
I walk with beauty before me.
I walk with beauty behind me.
I walk with beauty below me.
I walk with beauty above me.
I walk with beauty around me.
My words will be beautiful.
In beauty all day long may I walk.
Through the returning seasons, may I walk.
On the trail marked with pollen may I walk.
With dew about my feet, may I walk.
With beauty before me may I walk.
With beauty behind me may I walk.
With beauty below me may I walk.
With beauty above me may I walk.
With beauty all around me may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, lively, may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, living again, may I walk.
My words will be beautiful

So here is my starting point with the gate to my back. I walk straight to toward the dark clump.
and turn and walk to the next corner
to another corner and turn

"I walk with beauty before me"
"I walk with beauty above me"
I could hear the flock of blackbirds that were passing through.
I turn at the third corner.
When I get to the gate,
I walk it again and again and again.
Yesterday, I walked 4 laps which is almost a mile.
Today, I will walk again.
♥ Sharon
PS....until I memorize the Navajo Prayer, I will carry a copy with me to read while walking.
It feels so spiritual.

  1. Oh what a surprise! Thank you for taking me for a walk with you, and bringing everyone else. Now I can picture through what beauty do you walk. It was very important that I see your mud boots, of course they couldn't have been plain. That Navaho prayer made me teary. That's exactly how I was feeling on Saturday, and wouldn't mind feeling every day. Funny that you mentioned memorizing it, because as I was reading it I was thinking exactly the same thing. I hope we get to walk the same path some time this year. Thank you. This was beautiful.

  2. That is a beautiful prayer to recite while walking. And what better than a pair of flowered mud boots to walk in!

I know your walk was for Zorana but I went along too!

  3. I came along also, notice the marks from the cane? I came because I want to say thanks each day for the beauty of walking, I had walking envy for a couple months and wondered when I saw people walking if they knew what a great gift it is. Not one person had those great boots tho.

Wonderful to be reminded, your post and poem of beauty is a reminder of so much, things we can't always touch. I did even say a thank you today walking in a wind swept parking lot for the walking, the wind penetrated the body with pain, the first thing I felt was irritation and then I remembered that wan't what I wanted to feel today. it is nice to know we can choose how to feel.

  6. Thank you for the prayer Sharon. I started walking almost daily about 6 months ago. Most times I love it, sometimes I need inspiration. Your prayer will encourage me on those days when I have to push myself out the door.
