It is crazy what I did next because the reason I glue down papers is I don't like to paint on canvas. Well, I heard one of you say "challenge" or "do something different" and so without thinking I turned and picked up a piece of fabric. I moved fast and found a few more pieces. I didn't cut them or change their shapes. I just glued them down with a tiny bit of confidence that I would know what was next.
Of course "next" was a face and the first one I saw Tuesday morning was on a faces collage. So, I started.
Today, again during Morning Art I was anxious to paint. But the excitement really churned when I saw the birds (those little demons!). For me, there is a certain level of excitement when you think it is going to be good.
And then there is a whole new feeling that surges through your soul when the story begins to reveal itself and you know it is going to be good. I have to say, I was surprised that the story was revealed little by little much like in my Faces in Collage class technique.
You know I will be back tomorrow to share the whole finished story.
I'm just wondering if any of you know that feeling that I'm talking about.
I hope so.
♥

ReplyDeleteThis isn't just good....it's GREAT...FANTASTIC...AWESOME. You get the idea!
ReplyDeleteawesome...
ReplyDeletei knew there was more...
ReplyDeleteso beautiful yes it is, and so are you!
Yes I know the feeling, I know when Ihate that it is dinner time, or Ihave to leave the house, that i want to keepgoing. I also know the doubt feeling and it sits there and I don't even want to go downstairs. I always need a revival, art vitality, inspiration hunt. Then I see some little insignificant thing, like that man and the crooked house and know I have somthing that resembles nurishment to go on with it.
ReplyDeleteIf yo thinkof starving artists i a different sence it can mean what next where do I find what I need, and it really seems like need.
So seeing your combinations, and seeing the revival makes also my spirts sing the duet.
Love this...and isn't "the unfolding" process wonderful. I've heard it described as "creative tension" when you're not sure how a piece is developing and then, like magic, you hit a point when you just KNOW that it's starting to flow in just the right way and it feels so good to follow the feeling to see it through. Great to see you using fabric this way too!

ReplyDeleteFabulous Sharon! And I know exacty what you mean...that feeling for me starts as a little tingle or frisson up the back of my neck. :)
ReplyDeleteOhhhh this is lookin' good! Love the little "fringe" from the fabric...and the birds....to die for. Can't wait for the unveiling! She's BACK!!!!
ReplyDeleteSharon thos birds are wonderful, so wise looking, all seeing.

ReplyDeleteI have collaged fabric onto canvas first when my grandfather passed away and then this last October when my grandmother passed away. They are now on the wall in my studio side by side.I added a picture in the bottom of corner of them so that I can always visit them.
ReplyDeleteHello Up And Away Studio, that sounds so perfect. I wish I could see them.
