I'm Bloomin

Every year, I miss seeing my Paperwhites in bloom because they are around a corner of the house where I usually don't venture in the cold.  I also think each year that I will dig some bulbs and "force" them to bloom before Christmas.  But this takes a bit of planning ahead (which I'm not always good at). So Monday after I cleaned the remains of an old candle out of this really heavy glass dish, I wondered what I could put it in.

I went out and dug the bulbs which as you can see should bloom before too long.

I wanted to share them with you now and will show again when they bloom.

I Heart Tabs and Friends

It's true.

I have the bestest friends here in my little town.

And they share with me in the most generous way.

When I ran out of the supply of tabs from my friend Susan, my friend Carolynn loaned me two punches. 

It is time that I return them so I'm going to make enough today to take me through 2013 planning.

I have lots of planning going on right now for 2013.

This is so exciting! 

Events like this always leaves me shy with my words.

Nevertheless, I want to tell you that I am the featured artist for the Winter 2012 edition of 

Flair.

That means, my art is featured on the cover and throughout the magazine, as well as, a story page about me. 

The theme for this edition is "Odyssey" and sure enough, my art fit right into that.

Thank you, Flair publisher and staff for this wonderful honor.

Flair is a regional publication here in the Brazos Valley area of my big state of Texas.

Bacon and Oatmeal

Most mornings I eat my own concoction of plain Greek yogurt, grapenuts, dried fruit of some kind, raspberry fruit spread and always crumbled dried banana chips. The proportions are simple: one spoon of each thing added to 1/2 tub of yogurt. And always exactly 7 banana chips crumbled. I count them.

I have a variation to this breakfast recipe when I use 2 chopped dried dates. I substitute the raspberry fruit spread with a spoon of honey. 

But today, there is a chill in the house and outside is white with a heavy frost. It is a day if I sit and do nothing, I feel the cold to my bones. That always brings forward the memory of my Mother cooking a huge pot of oatmeal for us on cold days. 

Well, it is not the sitting and doing nothing that shuffles that particular memory to the front. It is the cold and remembering how her nourishment warmed us from inside out.  

And then there is the bacon. We always crumbled the bacon in the oatmeal with too much sugar and lots of butter. 

And that is what I had this morning.

My Eve Angel

The day before Christmas in the quietness and solitude of my home and studio, I sat at my desk and painted the angel that was dwelling in my soul. 

I am calling her my Christmas Eve angel.

You probably wouldn't notice unless I told you that I have made some changes in my blog side bar. There will probably be more coming in this new year.

One thing, I have changed my Etsy shop to show up as a mini  listing of a number of items.

If it looks like I have two of the same thing listed.....

I have sort of done that.

I have been trying to gradually add new listings. 

And I am listing some originals and prints of the original at the same time.
