Collage Crazy
Sometimes, I start painting the face first. This time I started with the background. I stepped away from the desk and when I came back, my eye translated the green leaf as a bird. That is what I love about collage.
Then I started painting the face and I got excited about purple lips. And so it goes. Purplish face. That reminded me of my Faces In Technicolor class (still available).
At some point, I saw the little green tip of a leaf under the purple bird as a bird head so I painted it and realized it was the whole bird. That is what I love about collage.
I think I said that.

Sharon,
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful and once again you are fabulous with collage. I think its all about looking and stepping away and going with what Norah says. I have been following my muse more these days. It always is the best way to go.

Hi Sharon - I just love this piece - I love how you have built up the collage - what a great technique - I really want to try this. I love the birds - you always have little surprises in your art.
ReplyDeleteCollage is fun isn't it? I think this one has a bit of a witchy feeling, just in time for Halloween.

Love it--can't say it enough!!
ReplyDeleteI find your collage series to be so inspiring. I keep saying that I need to create on paper instead of canvas once in awhile. Maybe after seeing a few more of your lovely pieces I'll finally start that journal! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! Just so wonderful! I can't wait to see what you do to the inside!
ReplyDeleteSharon,
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I have commented before or not, but I have been following you for some time now, and well, I hope you don't mind, but I've mentioned you on my blog.
I love your creations, and wanted to share you. I really hope you don't mind.
(If it is any consolation to you, I haven't been posting much lately, so my "readership" has dropped off a bit...)
Thanks for being here!
This is your best collage yet!!
ReplyDeleteYou are collage crazy - and I love it!! She is fabulous. I am loving the cup/birds on her head. :)
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous is this! Beautiful Sharon!
ReplyDeleteI have tried some collage this week and must say it is not going well. But oh what fun it is. I also had a bird emerge out of mine. I am still working on it, but I don't know if it will ever be share worthy.
ReplyDeleteI love your art...so beautiful, mysterious, and each seems to be trying to tell us a story.
Oh wow...how do you alwys pull it together so well. I really admire you for that Sharon. Absolutely gorgeous.

OK...so this is just genius....you see...you had the eye for an interesting composition from the "get go"...I mean the hat with the birds! How great is that! It's so fun to see the transition...
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!! Love the colors and the bird on her hat:O) Love:O)
ReplyDeleteSharon, this is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. I love how you have translated the images from the collage into your own vision. You have a real talent for this type of art work, I think. I love all your work, though. Thanks for sharing this.
