Happy

Nothing makes me happier than waking up in the morning with paint on my hands.
And nothing makes me happier than arriving at my office with dried gel medium on my hands.
It means I have spent the very last moment of the day painting or the very last moment of the morning prepping a canvas for the weekend ART.
I'm picking it off right now and so very happy!
Sharon
PS... I have really become addicted to doing this to a canvas before painting on it. No matter that it mostly gets covered up with paint. I just like to.

Sharing Random

I just took this from my office door. We don't get an annual snow here in central Texas. And so far it is not cold enough to be too pile up. Sure is pretty though coming down like this all day.

I did an interview for Meliss and she has posted it today. Click on over for my blab if you have a mind to. Meliss had some pretty good questions but my favorite was about that "what's the point jerk". Do you know him?

Another thing, Kathleen Nesi attended the Arthouse Library opening Brooklyn, New York this last weekend and she took pictures of my Sketchbook, A Timekeeper's Diary. She shared the pictures of her journey on her facebook page. That was so exciting to see Kathleen holding my book. Thank you Kathleen. Click on the "opening Brooklyn" link above to see the Arthouse Flicker photostream.

And here is the promotional flyer for the 2010 Sketchbook Project tour for the event with the schedule of other stops on the 2010 Library Tour. Can't tell you how cool it was to see my book again.

One more thing, Amy Wing at Gauche Alchemy has posted my napkin tutorial along with some very nice words. Check out the site for a lot of fun stuff. Thanks Amy.

There you have my random day. I think I might get to go home early today. My feet are cold.

That's random,

Sharon

Tell A Story

It's true, faces tell a story. Don't you love to people watch? I do. It is a great pastime because I can sit and watch and wonder just what exactly there story it. For example, this couple found in my or rather on my journal page this weekend has a story. Pretty obvious, they are talkers.
I found them right here on this page. Do you see them? Week four (Friday) at my Faces: All Norah'S workshop is about finding faces. For me, they appear in my journals. And they are great fun to bring to life with a story. It feels liberating to let them happen. Let them be who they are. In this case talkers. Wonder what they are talking about. Well, I know but can't tell you.

If you would like to see some of the student's work from my class, just click here, and here, and here, and here. That is just a few. There are 71 artist who are having a great time painting and sharing and encouraging each other.

It's not to late. You can join in when the time is right for you. And I would love for you to Play ART Together and with me.

Circus Loons

Where have y'all been? Oh, it was me missing. Where have I been?

Well, I have been to the circus and I have learned how to juggle.

I have been juggling all sorts of balls. Some big. Some little. Yep, some I dropped....and picked back up.

It's all good.
There is more to show and tell. I will do that this weekend. One more thing, it is true if you put something out there in the universe, it happens. I wished out loud that I wanted a Loon tie. Thank you Llynn for directing me to it.

Challenge

We are having great fun in my on line workshop. My friend Mystele sort of challenged me to paint dark skin. Well she didn't challenge me but ask if I would/could using the Folk Art paints like we are using in the first week of class.
You may have noticed that I haven't painted anything in way too long and that would be because of a huge project that I am happy to say got mailed today. Last night I could go no longer not having a brush in my hand. I HAD TO PAINT! And I could not get the challenge out of my mind.
So here is Penny painted with mostly Folk Art paints and following my own instructions in the class. Now that the huge project is finished, I think I will video a quick class supplemental for dark skin and surprise them with it.
There is room for more if you are interested and you don't have to get dressed or even be on time.
I plan to have a random week,
Sharon

Mixed-textile Curtains

I made it work!!!
Do you believe I finally finished this little (big) project? Sure did and right on a big deadline.
I talked about it here. And I really really meant to get it done. Well finally I did.
Having a random type Sunday doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
So far painting hasn't happened and I'm really really getting out of sorts about that.
I'm hopeful.

New Toy

My friend put me onto this new toy. I think we are having a race to see who can walk the most steps per day. You can find it at Walgreen's. In our town there is a $5.00 off coupon this week.

Just in case you can't see. I have 1354 steps for today as of l:50 PM. On top of that, it saves 7 days in its memory. And on top of that, it is a clock I can wear on my belt, if I had a belt.
I don't own a watch and never know what time it is.
But I will tell you one thing, today was the start of my online workshop and we are having one fun TIME....Playing ART Together.
Join me,
Sharon

Weekend Report

Boy Oh boy, what a weekend and for that matter what a Monday! Feels just like Monday on the first day of a month here at this desk.

I fear I must report that I haven't finished the list of things to do. I did some of This and a little of That, half of the big Studio Project, cut out the curtains, and worked on the Color Library shown above in progress.

I never got around to #2-a, 8, 9, or 6 except I did notice the birds out the window now and again.
Excuse me, I'm off now to conquer this desk.
