Excuses

I really do have a lot of excuses that I tell myself when I don't stick with something. The biggest one, the one that gets me off the hook, the one that I always resort to is this: If I were just at home all day every day then I could accomplish all the things that I want to do. And I would have the energy to do those things. And I would still have enough time to sit in the chair too. And I might even want to clean my house too.

I could make a list of all the things that I didn't do over the weekend but I'm afraid it is too boring. I will tell you that this little face is on a big canvas that I didn't stick to and finish.
Tomorrow is another day.

  5. The colors on this I could just eat! They are like fruit that is soft with that just fresh ripeness. You know how delicious it will taste just by looking at it!

I'm home all day, hate to do house work...that's why it's called "work". Don't have the energy or the back for it. Would rather use the hours of the day playing art or petting the cats and playing with the dog or watching the spring roll in ever so slowly.

  11. And who cares she is beautiful and that is all that matters. I have just pulled some boxes out with old art work and only now I feel ready to rework and finish. So there will come a time when it will either happen or you will have peace with how it is! XxX

  12. I resemble that remark. hehe!
My excuse is similar, plus, if I had the house all to myself all day every day, no distractions... And then I have a day like that I putz it away.
    :P
Your painted girl is adorable! I just love the colorfulness!

  14. I just knew you'd be putting up something WONDEROUS today! Not finished? Really? She has a hint of Bobbie Takashima coloring and style.

You know, I always wonder why I don't get much done around the house anymore. When I was YOUNG and worked in a factory, had kids/school and a DH to tend to, my house was always clean, laundry done, suppers and dishes done and I still found time to try to teach myself how to paint. Maybe I need structured time......but I think not!!!

  15. How can you paint with so many colors and not make it muddy or too colorful or too anything - just calming and beautiful to look at. A darling, darling little face.

  18. I love seeing this piece of your work - such a lovely, reflective face. Her expression touches me.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Having big swaths of time is nice but not the norm. We can only do what we can in the little bits of time we have. ♥

  21. Hi Sharon: I don't think it matters how much time one has, it is never enough. Of course my mind wanders around to different things all the time, and I want to do it all plus all the everyday stuff and go someplace sometimes, and hunt for more stuff that I can use in art, I just don't have enough time. Of course you know from class I have done quite a lot of painting.

So Of course I love this little colorful face with such a spirit of life and spring. Using all that color shows such confidence of not having to rework a thing.

  23. well I love your little girl already...I'm home all day as well and don't seem to get anything done...well at least the stuff I WANT to get done...and when I was working and only part time...I would think if only I didn't work...whom maybe I should just pretend I still work part time and use that time for all the stuff I WANT TO DO...I'll have to run that idea by hubby...lol...take care.

  25. Beautiful face! I think sometimes even with time, you might not finish...some things just take that length of time to digest and there's only so much our brains can concentrate on! I think it's better to re-evaluate expectations...we don't have to do it all!

  26. You know what, Sharon-I AM home every day--what's my excuse? ;) I really hope you finish this sweet little one--she's waiting--I can see it in her eyes.
