My Moods

Hope you don't mind that I share with you in bits and pieces.
Above is what I did to the the collage background in my last post.
I was inspired to use the colors again that I used in this piece.
Which by the way was part of week four lesson of Faces: All Norah'S workshop.
So, anyway the above background was all ready for the weekend and I had an inkling of what I wanted to paint. And I did paint some.
But the problem was that I really wasn't in a painting mood.
Now I don't know about you but it sure aggravates me to be waiting for the weekend and excited to paint and yet not in the mood. How can one have both feelings all at the same time?
I don't know.
But I did sit in the chair all day Sunday thinking about it.
While I did that my painting in progress was going through the "stare" stage.
I did not like the stiffness of my birdie's legs.
So this morning during my hour of art, I just collaged right over them.

And then I put the background back in.
My philosophy: If I did it once, I can do it again.
Just had to show him.
Hopefully this work in progress will be ready for my next post.

I will say that I'm feeling the mood to paint.
Thanks for listening today.
Sharon

  3. I've been in that mood for quite some time now! Love the background on this, and the long legs with the long feet are looking fantastic. I'll be back to see the finished piece.

  4. Feelings of that sort have an explanation, I think at times there is so much rumbeling around in ones mind that contemplation is a good way to sort it all.

This does look fabulous, I wish I knew where birds purchased those wondrful socks that yours have. I know our cat wears them, but none here that fit birds.

I feel moved to paint something larger so have started the process.

Feel moved to have some things I like in frames, a cleaner house means some new art up. Such drudgery cleaning up winters dirt.

    Will be watching your progress.

  8. Sharon,

It is so nice to hear from you again and you are as usual a delight to read.

It is good to see how you mix it up when you aren't particularly happy with what you've done and to know that you struggle with your muse like the rest of us.

    Love what you are doing,

    xoxo

  9. Oh yes, I know that feeling too well! I let my art mood be ruined when life and life's characters and needful things get in the way.
And then I still fight the war in my head on what I really want to do and what I think OTHERS feel I should be doing. So, I come in here to the art room, play around with art stuff but watch tv or browse on the 'puter. I'll get it right one of these days and start to churn out some real art regardless of the world around me!
You gave 'sneak peeks' again! I love how you explain what you're doing, how and why but I just can't wait to see the whole piece!!!

  11. Love the colors and what's happening so far. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who has these experiences. It just seems so wrong that when we long to paint, we can't. When we can paint, we still can't.
But there is value in the silence. When asked how long it took me to paint something, as far as I'm concerned, the silence is included as well the active stage of the work.

  13. The peek you are showing us looks so interesting. It is nice to see how you change things when you aren't pleased with them. It is easy for me to get stuck in that "not pleased" place and just stop.

  14. I really love your work. I also like what Regina said about the silent time also being a part of the active time. We artists must sometimes step back and ponder our work and that is all part of the art mystique...
