Walking In Beauty Floor Cloth

Morning Sunlight in the Parlor!

Before the final addition to my beautiful floor cloth, I took it to the Garden Palace for a preview.
I needed to determine where to start the writing in the reserved border space.
I'm just plain nutty about the early morning sunshine in the Rose Garden Parlor and for no other reason share here.
Can you feel it?

On the floor and in position it all made sense.
While the path of this Navajo prayer borders the cloth, clearly there is a path right down the middle of two rows of beauty.
And that is how I decided the starting point of the prayer.

I found two versions of the prayer (author unknown).
With a little revision, I included parts of both.

I took all of these pictures and about 59 more on two different days with two different cameras and at two different times of day.
The above was mid afternoon.

On the Edge
Walking In Beauty
author unknown
In Beauty I walk
With beauty before me, behind me, above me, and around me, I walk.
It has become beauty again.

Today I will walk out, today everything negative will leave me.
I will be as I was before, I will have a cool breeze over my body.

I will have a light body, I will be happy forever, nothing will hinder me.
I will walk with beauty before me, behind me, below me, above me and around me.
My words will be beautiful.
In beauty all day long may I walk.
Through the returning seasons, may I walk.

Beautifully will I possess again,
beautifully birds beautifully joyful birds.
On the trail marked with pollen may I walk.
With dew about my feet, may I walk.
With beauty before me may I walk.
With beauty behind me may I walk.
With beauty below me may I walk.
With beauty above me may I walk.

With beauty all around me may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, lively, may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, living again, may I walk.
It is finished in beauty.
My words will be beautiful

It is a happy place with color.

On another day, I will have more to say about the how-to of making a floor cloth.

    1. The prayer does have that effect. I have my own interpretation of some of the passages. For me it is partly about death. Or maybe it is all about death.

  3. Sharon, this is so gorgeous! I love it in its place, it is so perfect in the space! The light in the room is lovely and compliments and accents the floor cloth AND the whole room. The poem is exactly right, and gives me shivers with the inspiration and the beauty! :). Well done! Then, the floor cloth in the next room is also a lovely accent. Such a wonderful palace!
