Page Finished

Before sitting down with her this morning, I was unsure whether or not I would touch the face. I thought maybe I wanted to leave it as was and just finish up the background and journal part.
But as we were face to face, eyeball to eyeball, with paints at hand, a little voice from the gut said, "you haven't tried painting with your new tool wet-on-dry yet. That was the only excuse I needed.
So I did alter her chin, I frequently end up with a chin too long. To see what I did, scroll down to the prior post. I added detail in the eyes and nose. Then I did what I always do. I made sure that I had some of my darkest dark right next to my lightest light. Color value is one of my core elements.
Expect more tool painting,
Sharon

  1. so wonderful...what a neat core element- i hadn't thought about color value in that way. i'd only gone as far as color in general. see, i always learn something from you!

  2. Hi Sharon: Hope your day is going well, you have this lovely page to think about while at your other work and making a plan for the next thing.

Remembering the lights and darks is
so important, I don't always remember, I did with the watercolor paintings, to get the best of my buildings and other arrangements as I was always hunting for things to bring out that just happened.

Ok I need to work on blood shot eyes on my women, not keeping that really clean. One is going into a quilt and a piece of sheer curtain will cover part of her so not to worry about that eye. The tool does work good on dry, I felt sort of cheating when tampering with a face last night.

My bottom of the bin, scrap, horrible quilt has been reconstructed and is moderately fine. Spent a lot of time fixing.
I must do it right the first time.

Off to see if I can see faces in the compost as I feed the garden for next year. Emelie

  7. Hi Sharon, your work is so beautiful. You have such an eye for color and composition. Such talent!
I have been afraid to give faces a try, I really have no talent for drawing, but I think I'm gonna give it a try!! :)
