untitled

This morning I finished up this pretty girl. She looks like somebody I might know. She is from the weekend and I have to confess that I didn't really wish to paint this past weekend. And so I found the Lifetime movies on my big couch. I'm having a hard time getting back into that side of my brain. I guess after all the "getting organized", I need a break. I've lost some passion.

This is on 8 X 10 canvas board and I'm thinking that I want to paint bigger. But then I'm thinking a lot about backgrounds and how important they are to the composition and I'm thinking I just want to paint faces and not backgrounds. It's crazy. There is a merry-go-round in my head and I'm jumping on and off of it after going in circles round and round.

No tellin what to
Expect next,
Sharon

  1. What a sweet face. At first glance I thought they were nurses. Remember way back when all the nurses wore those little white caps on their heads? But that was first glance and my caffeine has not kicked in yet.
All of us artists know that the passion and drive to paint comes and goes....your passion will be back. Enjoy your break.

  4. She is so pretty and has such a sweet innocence. The queenly ladies around her do not seem to be disturbing her at all - are they part of your musings. Your passion will return - it is resting.

  5. Hi Sharon,

She is lovely, and golden girl it seems. Interesting what another blogger said about the circles in connection to what you said about feelings.

I hate that feeling of not knowing what to do wanting something, a new twist, added to the part we love most in our choice of work at the time. Keeping that passion alive after an interuption or just being sort of tired after a long
stint of high feeling from work that can be so fun.

I have painted some faces on fabric
and found that fun also. The stencils and the stamps along with a quilted piece has been sometimes fun and sometimes a challenge.

Can't get good photos that suit me.

Wishing you inspiration and creative thoughts that just can come in an unexpected moment.

  11. Beautiful face. You know if you go bigger you just make the face bigger. Also you have more room for things in the background. Aren't you amazed when you go to a museum and see how big those paintings are? Perhaps this is a new challenge for you. Go big and see what happens.

  12. Burst out and be bigger! Give it a try. Not that you are so organized you have room for it I'll bet.

  13. Sharon,
I completely relate. I am so scattered at times. I do so many things and I can't stand to be corraled into a specific thing! I am getting ready for a show sooooo....In the past 3 days, I have: finished several paintings, sculpted a bunch of birds, finished a bunch of purses, crocheted hats, soldered pendants, made necklaces....insanity!!! But I am happy! Sometimes, I paint only backgrounds for a week. I used to listed to people who tried to convince me to find my "one thing", but I came to realize that I can't be creative AND pigeonholed. I have finally accepted that I will never be a Van Gogh...I'll just to be happy being me!

  16. Beautiful work as always. Completely understand about the BIGGER factor. I just got back from CA and staying with Lisa Bebi which inspired me to give BIG another try. I have two in the works, one with BIG faces and one with BIG background. I'm so on the fence about which way I want to go on that. It is fun to stand up and make some BIG brush strokes though!
